“He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’…’And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it’†Matthew 16:15-18, NKJV.
Simon told Jesus who he was. I wonder was it surprising to Peter how Jesus responded. Jesus told him you are not Simon anymore. You are now Peter, and you heard no disagreement from him. Peter received who Jesus said he was.
You have told Jesus who he is, and the greatest blessing in life is to know the Lord. But that’s not all. The Lord’s not done with you yet. No matter what you have been called or labeled in your past, up to this awesome moment in your life, Jesus is telling you who you are. You are victorious, made new and strong. You are anointed and chosen. Your road may have been rough, but you are still here, and that attests to the truth of who he says you are. Like Peter, he wants you to receive it and live your best life. Be who he has called you to be, and you can do what he says you can do.
Prayer: Father, I thank you! Thank you, Jesus, for the revelation of knowing who you are. Help me to stand in who you say that I am. I can do what you say I can do. I am forgiven, loved, and new. I am full of power and authority in Christ. I receive and believe who you say that I am. I have no limits on my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
