“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?…knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin” Romans 6:1-7, NKJV.
We all have had to let God deal with our secret sin. The sin that no one knows about but you and God. If we’re honest, for some of us, it’s also the sin that we find ourselves frequently falling into, or the sin that we knowingly don’t want to let go of. I dealt with masturbation for years in my life, and wondered if I’d ever get beyond it.
The devil will tell you that it will always be in your life, and you must accept it. You’re going to have to live with it. Yet, that’s not the heart of God. Through the power of Jesus, you can overcome the power of sin. No spirit of temptation is more powerful than God’s Spirit in you. No matter how long you’ve dealt with it, remain determined that you won’t live with it, something you just do every so often. His grace is enough. Jesus is enough! Don’t focus on the sin, but rather focus on pursuing Christ and watch Him not only deal with the sin, but the very desire for it. God’s going to remove the desire not just for a moment, but for a lifetime. God’s going to bless you to not only stop for a moment, but for a lifetime.
Prayer: Father, I give you great praise and great glory! I will not keep walking in this secret sin in my life, even every so often. Thank You for Your mercy and grace. Help me, Jesus. I fixed my eyes on You, Jesus. My desire is for You more than any pleasure. According to Your word, work in me the will and to do what pleases You instead. I receive by faith that this ends. I bring this to Your throne of grace, and I thank You for completely delivering me. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
