Stay Connected

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” John 15:5, NKJV.

When a baby is born, they immediately cry and pursue their mother. She is the one they’ve been connected to for nine months. That newborn desires to stay connected, just like in the womb, knowing where their food and protection comes from.

We may be grown men, but we have a similar dependency that a new baby does. We have to stay connected to Jesus and learn the discipline of abiding in Him. This is something to understand that abiding extends beyond spending time with the Lord in the morning; this is where dwelling in Him begins. He is the True Vine and we are the branches. Like a baby apart from that womb, apart from Him we can do nothing.

It is humbling to realize that we can produce no good fruit on our own. You will find more and more these are not times to pursue to be strong in yourself because your strength, your love, your patience, will run out. It will only take you so far. Yet, when you live connected to Jesus, when things happen, you won’t be shaken.

Pray in the morning, yet continue to pray. Praise God in the morning, yet continue to praise Him during the day. Study His word in the morning, now keep your mind on what He says during your day. These are small keys that will help you stay connected to Jesus.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your mighty Word. Thank You Jesus that You are all I need. Help me learn the discipline of abiding in You. Not just in the morning at home, but help abiding to become the way that I live. Let Your fruit overflow. Because I dwell in Christ, I will not be shaken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
