You’re solely responsible for the seed.

July 4, 2018

“And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: ‘A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside…but others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold” Luke 8: 4-7, NKJV.

A farmer doesn’t consider how the soil will respond to the seed they sow. They know they have no control over that miraculous part of the harvest. That part is beyond their ability. They understand their responsibility is to sow the seed, and then, watch it grow.

Many times when we consider sharing the seed of God’s word with someone, we consider the things that we can’t control. Yet, just as a farmer is not responsible for the soil of the ground, you are not responsible for the condition of a man’s heart. God is. He is the Lord of the harvest. We can’t make anyone change, only a patient God can and it’s in His timing. He is the One that causes the power of His word to produce even long after He used you to sow it.

You never know what the Lord has already been dealing with someone about. Just be a faithful sower for Jesus and let God make it grow.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your word. I am not responsible for the soil of another person’s heart. You are. I am responsible for only being a sower of Your word. Help me to be about Your mission to spread the good news everywhere I go because people need You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Study: Luke 8:4-15, 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
