You must decrease, so He can increase.

March 18, 2017

“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure” Philippians 2:13, NKJV.

“He must increase, but I must decrease” John 3:30, NKJV.

It can be difficult to move yourself from being head of your own life. What do you do when you find your will is not God’s will? What do you do when God is asking you to do something that is a challenge for you to do? You know you need to humble yourself and submit to it, but it is difficult to submit your will and desires to His. The very will and ability to do what pleases Him, actually comes from Him.

Jesus had the hardest battle of His life to get on the cross, yet it yielded the greatest results, the greatest impact, the greatest blessing in His life. What He knew He could not do, or even wanted to do, He set Himself in prayer to decrease, so the grace of God, the power of God could increase. The more you decrease and decrease, the more He can increase and increase, birthing the results you are looking for.

There are things that we just flat out don’t want to do. Whether it is obeying God, being a humble man, walking in His love, loving our wives to the degree of how Christ loved the church, fasting, giving, or shifting our top priority to the things of God, all are aspects of your christian walk. In spite of how tough it may seem, it can all be accomplished as you go before God and decrease. It is the key to every victory, every inward fight. He will work in you what you can’t do, what you can’t manufacturer– the will and the ability to do His good pleasure.

Prayer: Father, help me. I decrease. Only You can work in me the desire and the ability to do what pleases You. I humble myself and I decrease, so You can increase in my life, so Your Spirit can lead me. Give me the strength to love, forgive, obey You, even accept what You say about me and what I can do. Increase Lord and birth the greatest results in my walk with You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
