Understanding Where You Are and Your Need to Pray

November 17, 2018

“He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy” Matthew 26:42-43, NKJV.

Do you understand the magnitude of where you are right now in your life? Do you realize what is ahead of you? Jesus did, and he prayed. If you did, you would pray too.

Purpose promotes prayer. Awareness promotes prayer. Love promotes prayer. If there wasn’t a time to be praying for God’s will to be done in you, for His Spirit to be a consuming fire in you, it’s now in your life. Pray for the strength to resist the devil that wants you to be asleep during this mighty hour for you.

Yet, as you are awake and pray, you’ll see that the same Jesus that conquered over the flesh and the cross, is in you and with you, and he won’t let you down. Just as he didn’t at first want to do the hardest thing he had to do, and didn’t feel like doing God’s will, but he did it through the power of prayer, so will Jesus help you do the Father’s will also.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for opening my eyes to the magnitude of where I am in my life, and the need for me to pray. Jesus you conquered over your flesh, and I ask you to help me conquer over mine. You empowered Jesus to do Your will and I ask that You empower me. Your grace is enough and I receive it by faith to follow Jesus. In your name I pray, Amen.
