Trust the Wisdom of God

February 24, 2020

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy” James 3:17, NKJV.

“For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord” Proverbs 8:35, NKJV.

When you are searching for the will of God, the Father gives us some powerful descriptions of His wisdom to help us identify it, including that it will first be pure. It will be morally and spiritually undefiled. It will be perfect. If you are doing it being driven by pleasing people or for perception in front of them, you can know the decision is not from God because it is not pure. If you are doing it because you seek the applause of men, if you are marrying or dating her just because of her body, it’s not gentle or pure. With all of your decisions, from what you do with your money, to what church you are planted in, let them be pure before the Lord.

If we look at every decision through the lens of God’s word, it will filter out any wrong intents and motives. As men, we want to have certain things, appear a certain way, and show that we’ve arrived. That’s what the devil wants you to do. However, that won’t deliver peace, nor what you really desire in the end. Don’t do it to please people, do it to please God. You want God’s will and favor in your life.

Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me. I believe this truth is going to help me make wise decisions, even in the heat of the moment. May all my decision be pure. Help me to seek Your word to help me check my intents and motives. I will not do what I do for man, but for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
