There is a psalm for your moment

April 21, 2020

“Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me…but You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head” Psalm 3:1 & 3, NKJV.

David was in trouble, a serious moment in his life, being pursued by his own son, and he wrote a psalm about it. When he messed up and slept with Bathsheba, he had a moment of seeing himself and what he had become. He wrote a psalm of his cry to God for change. In times of blessing and deliverance, he and others would write about them also.

The Lord instructs us to read and sing psalms, even among each other. They are a real, moment-by-moment ministry to you. They minister to the moments we have in our daily walk. Like a wave, we have emotions even as men, in times of trouble, questions, victory, mistakes, and confrontations of our faith. None of them are new under the sun, which the Lord has something to say about them all. When you question your own heart. When you need to tell yourself, keep trusting in the Lord. When you need to rejoice and loudly boast on God before the devil. He gave someone the words in Psalms to address them that went through the same thing you are going through.

When you feel like you have nothing to say, or know what to pray, His word will speak for you. When you the enemy talks defeat, pick up a psalm and talk back your victory! Be encouraged to take hold of a Psalm and make it your own today.

Prayer: Father, thank You for giving me so much of Your word to help us get through and have victory in our moments. Lead me to a Psalm each day to meet me right where I am. Teach me how to war with Your word! I give You praise that as I receive Your word, it will provide me with joy, strength, and hope in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Study: Psalm 13, 34, 43 & 51, Ephesians 5:18-20
