But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” Matthew 4:4, NKJV.
I was sitting down before God’s word and it felt like food to me. Truly the best meal of the day is God’s word. It is food for the man you can’t see. It’s food for the man that needs joy, hope and strength for great battles. God’s word isn’t physical food, but it has the attributes of it and what it will do for you:
It strengthens you.
It helps you keep going.
It quickens you with life.
It feeds your faith.
It helps you focus.
It refreshes your soul.
It quenches your thirst.
It will fill you inside.
I’ve had some great food, but nothing does all the above like the word of God. Just as when you don’t eat physically, you notice the difference, so it will be when you don’t eat spiritually. You will notice the difference inside, and the word of God is what you need. Bread alone won’t do it. Coffee won’t do it. God’s word alone feeds the areas in our lives that are empty and without strength.
Again, the best meal of your day is God’s word. Remember to eat today.
Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me. The best meal of my day is Your word. It is the key to my success today. Just like I make sure I eat physically, help me to make sure I eat spiritually. I can’t live without. Like I love to eat food, show me how to love Your word. I praise You for it. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
