Teach me to do Your will

June 11, 2018

“Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness” Psalm 143:10, NKJV.

When a student isn’t doing what they’ve been instructed to do, a good teacher will take the time to show them how.

Speaking for myself, I have to admit that like that student, I need help in my life. There are some things I have found myself continually doing, even when I make a great effort to stop. I have also found myself knowing what to do, yet for some reason I still haven’t changed my ways. I need God to teach me to do His will.

This goes beyond us just knowing or being aware of what to do. This goes beyond even understanding it. It is when our actions catch up to where our heart is, because for many of us men, our sincere desire is for more of God. It is when our actions show a higher level of preparation for where God is taking us. It is when our actions show we don’t want the sin that secretly is harming and hindering us.

Ask God to teach you to do His will. No matter where you are, He is still your God and His Spirit is there to help. His Spirit is good. If you will allow Him to teach you, He will lead you into an upright life and into His perfect will.

Prayer: Father, You are my God. Teach me. I don’t want to keep doing the same things in my life. Show me how to change. I know a lot, but I only do half of what I know. Help me God. Help me read to Your word and apply it to my life. I ask for a hearing ear and to be humble, so You can teach me to do Your will. I thank You in advance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
