If It Weren’t For His Grace

March 15, 2020

“But by the [remarkable] grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not without effect. In fact, I worked harder than all of the apostles, though it was not I, but the grace of God [His unmerited favor and blessing which was] with me” 1 Corinthians 15:10, Amplified.

I remember when I had oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth, and it went very well. It went so well, I wasn’t feeling any pain. It went so well, I said to myself these first few days have been easy, and it seemed I had an uncommon, speedy recovery process. But on the third day, I messed up and didn’t take my medication on time. I began to feel some real pain and discomfort, and I realized at that very moment what had happened to me. It wasn’t that there wasn’t any pain present from the surgery, but it was the medication keeping me away from it all.

This is how God’s grace is in your life. Things are going so well in your life, the favor that abounds toward you, doors that seem to open, the strength and gifts you walk in, what you made it through, and things that always seem to work out on your behalf. It’s not you. It’s His remarkable grace. All through the years, it’s been His grace. It is God’s divine hand of unmerited (unearned) favor and blessing on your life. Moment by moment, because of Jesus, His grace is upon you.

Be reminded to never take it for granted, but be as Paul and use God’s grace to work more than them all. You are who you are because of His grace!

Prayer: Father, I give You praise. If it weren’t for Your grace…I can’t even imagine where I would be. Thank You for all the unmerited favor and blessings You richly provide this man each day. You keep me, and you protect me. When I don’t even realize it, Your grace is abounding toward me. Help me to never take Your grace for granted and bring You great glory with it. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
