How Faith Comes

February 1, 2019

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17, NKJV.

Imagine that faith was your brother and you called him saying, “Faith, I am trying to get through some things in my life. I am depressed and discouraged, and I feel like I’m about to lose it. I need you to come right over. Also faith, I am trying to believe God and who He has called me to be, but I could use some courage as well. Can you help me?”

Faith would respond, “Sure my brother, you know I’ll do whatever you need. I’ll do the impossible for you. I’ll move mountains for you. I’ll get you through anything, but I only have one way to come to you.”

Faith doesn’t come by boat. Faith doesn’t come by car or plane. Faith doesn’t come by a man’s will power. Every man’s faith comes the same way, and that is by consistently hearing the Word of God. If you are trying to have faith any other way, you are fighting a losing battle. Only God’s Word will make your faith strong, maintain it and help you to overcome.

Devote the time to open His Word and hear from Him about that specific area, Who He is, who you are in Christ, and all of the good news of His promises toward you. Then, watch faith mightily show up in your heart and change your life.

Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me. Faith only comes one way and that is by hearing Your Word. I decide not to do it my own way any longer. I turn to Your Word. As I hear it, thank You for strong faith showing up in my heart. I will build my life on the rock of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
