He is Papa now.

April 15, 2017

“And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Galatians 4:6, NKJV.

Jesus introduced calling God more by the name of Father than anyone else in the Bible when he walked the earth. He would always be calling God Father and told us to call Him that when we pray. He then went deeper by calling Him “Abba” (Mark 14:36). Abba is a more intimate, close and affection term of Father. It is similar to saying papa or dad.

When he gave his life for us, anyone that receives him now receives the Spirit of Adoption and we can now know God just as he does. Jesus wants you to know the Father as he does. He is not just God. He is not just Father.

He is Papa. He is Dad.

When I call God Papa, that alone causes me to work beyond any unworthiness, feeling unqualified and all the above. Calling Him Papa alone helps me deal with the hurt and disappointments of my own natural father who wasn’t there. It may seem far from you being able to be so so close to the Father, yet that is what God has intended through Jesus. Jesus removed the gap of sin and restored man to sonship.

Now is the time God wants you to know Him in a deeper way. He wants you to treat Him closer. He doesn’t just want to be your God. He doesn’t just want to be Creator, the Alpha and the Omega, the Almighty to you. When you need Him the most, He wants to be Abba. When you are trying your best to be a great man, He wants to be Abba. When you’ve messed up over and over, He wants to be Abba. He wants to be Abba, denoting closeness, transparency, love, the One you can turn to and lean on, confide in, the One who’s always proud of you, and confidence. He is Papa now.

Prayer: Papa, I am no longer in bondage and I don’t have to be afraid. You are not only God now. You are Father, You are Papa. There is nothing in the way. I am Your beloved son. I have received Your Spirit of adoption and I can call You Papa. Help me be the man desire me to be Papa. Help me begin to walk with You in this way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (Galatians 4:7)
