A New Name

July 6, 2017

“No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you a father of a multitude of nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you” Genesis 17: 5-6, ESV.

In the book of Genesis, we learn that God changed Abram’s name to Abraham. Along with the new name came Abram’s mission from God. Along with the new name came increase for Abraham. Along with increase came a new covenant.

You see, God wants to give you a new name. He wants to bring increase to your life. When you made the decision to yield to God’s will for your life, He placed great things in store for you. You have yet to see the manifestation of your Father’s glory in your life. Where you are right now is not your final destiny. What you have right now is not all you will have. Your Father has given you a new name and a new reputation. You will see increase in your life. You will see His glory in your life. You will see His mighty Hand at work in your life. Others will see your Father exalting you in this new life you have in Him.

With a new name also comes a new identity. Your Father will change everything about you that when you walk into a room, it will not be you they see, but Your Father whose in heaven. Be encouraged.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for my new name and identity in You. I thank You for using Your mighty hand to performs miracles in my life. Allow your light to shine through me so that others will see You when I walk into grocery stores or while sitting in the park. Thank you for my new life in You. In the name Jesus, Amen.
