When God tells you what you don’t want to hear.

“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’ He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it and went. Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to Him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you” Matthew 21:28-31, NKJV.

Yesterday morning, God showed me myself and I had to listen. It doesn’t feel good when God tells you something you may not want to hear. As a loving Father, He will confront you about you. He will tell us when we are being like the second son. We appear fine to others, and we say yes to Jesus with our words, but in secret, the Lord knows we’re not doing what He said.

Like the two sons, we’re in an hour where God is seeking obedience. It’s very needful to work in the Father’s vineyard. With all of the feelings, the fear, even the I don’t want to’s, we overcome them and do what He said to do. What is Jesus asking you to take up your cross and completely follow Him about? What step of faith has He asked you to make so He can bless you? Are you doing the work He called you to do?

Go before Him and welcome Him to deal with any sin in your life. It’s a good thing when the Lord shows you the truth about you. It is precious when we sit before God and appreciate His honesty about our lives. Receive it like a man. Then, as the God of all comfort does, He will hug you afterwards.

Prayer: Father, I give you praise. Thank you for dealing with me. Deal with any disobedience in my life. Show me myself. Like the first son, I may say no at first with some things you ask of me, but I help me say yes. I will obey you because I love you. The King will return, and I want to have completed the work you told me to do. I thank you for it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
