What is He telling you to do?

“Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, ‘But Lord, what about this man?’ Jesus said to him, ‘If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.’” John 21:21-22, NKJV.

Before Jesus ascended to heaven, he gave Peter and John two different instructions on what their assignments were when he is gone. As Peter asked Jesus about John’s assignment, Jesus’ response was essentially what I tell John to do doesn’t concern you. Let your focus be on what I’ve told you to do.

You may see another believer doing things that are different right now from what you’re being led to do. That’s okay. Their assignment may be different from yours. Let your focus be on what has Jesus told you to do during these pivotal moments we are living in. What is He telling you to do regarding your call? What is He telling you to do regarding leading your family? What is He telling you in the midst of a pandemic? How is God telling you to respond to injustice, protesting, and all of the unrest? Whatever it is, do it for God. Don’t do something for man, but because the Lord told you to.

Prayer: Father, I glorify You and praise You for all you’ve done for me. Thank You for speaking to me to keep my focus on what You want me to do and how to respond to what’s happening around me. Help me not to be moved by man, but only move by Your Spirit directing me. The best place for me is always in faith and in Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
