Put Your Stone Down, It May Be You.

“And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?” Luke‬ ‭6:41‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

I was headed to work one morning on a one-lane road and there was a car that came out in front of me. They begin driving slowly and continue to drive at a certain speed. I’m already going fast and I feel they’re wrong. I’m looking at the car saying, “speed up, speed up, I’m trying to go!” Then, I looked up to my right and saw the speed limit. I realized it wasn’t the car in front of me that needed to speed up. I needed to slow down. I apologized in my heart. They weren’t the issue, I was. It was me.

None of us are right all the time. Sometimes, it’s not the other person and you have to put your stone down. It’s us. It may not be the other person, it’s you. You may feel it’s them that needs to change, but it could be you.

Don’t be afraid to examine yourself for your part to play in the matter first, and not someone else. Don’t be so quick to point the finger, rebuke, or hold someone accountable thinking they are in the wrong, when you may be the very one in the wrong yourself. This is a great aid of wisdom from God to resolve relational matters, at home or in the workplace, that keep love in and the devil out. Most of all, it will keep you humble and your heart right.

Prayer: Father, thank You for good old wisdom. Help me not be so quick to rebuke someone else because it might be me in the wrong. Help me to see when I’m wrong and then humble myself to admit it. It’s a blessing to be able to resolve matters Your way. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
