Look up and hope in God!

“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance” Psalm 42:5, NKJV.

When David wrote this psalm, he was going through a hard time, having been exiled by Saul from his home. He longed to be back in the house of God, among the people of God, and freely give God praise there. He longed to be where he used to be. Two different times he said this, denoting that he had anxiety, restlessness, a tossing, and a struggle for peace, going on in his soul, yet he decided to hope in God.

You may be like David, and you have a lot going on inside. You’re faced with confusion, depression, anxiety, or restlessness. You may long to be where you used to be.

Yet, tell your soul to look up to where your help comes from. Your help comes from the Lord. Hope in God. Tell your soul to still give Him praise and let Him fill your cup. He will perform His word. He has a master plan, and even when it feels like He isn’t at work at all, that’s when He is doing His best work in you. When it feels like He is the farthest away is when He is the closest. He will be glorified and will bring you into a great place.

Prayer: Thank you, Father. I will hope in you! I may not understand, and my faith is being tested, but I look to you. I will yet praise you! You are doing your best work in my life. Help me to stand strong in hope today. Fill my cup. Through Christ, I dominate and reign over all other spirits that aren’t from you! receive peace and joy now. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord…” – Psalm 121:1-2
