God’s wisdom serves as divine protection.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

God’s wisdom serves as divine protection in believers’ lives. Jesus covers individuals with this wisdom, which acts as a safeguard against harm.

Wisdom is one of God’s primary ways to protect. It keeps people from harmful directions, arguments, bad decisions, and short-term choices that lead to long-term consequences.

God is compared to a “natural father” who desires to protect His children, emphasizing His loving intent behind providing wisdom. God’s wisdom is backed by His love, ensuring it is not restrictive but solely aimed at shielding from evil and harm.

Practical Application: Seek and Heed Wisdom

We are urged as believers to actively engage with God’s wisdom in daily life by doing two things:

Giving Attention to the Holy Spirit

Believers are called to pay attention passionately to the Holy Spirit for wisdom in all situations, including relationships, church interactions, and dealings with the opposite sex (e.g., being careful in our interactions.

Have the Right Attitude Towards Wisdom

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

Wisdom should not be “belittled” or dismissed as “no big deal.” Instead, believers are exhorted to be “sober and vigilant,” recognizing its critical role in avoiding harm.

God’s wisdom is our loving, protective covering, guiding believers away from harm and is rooted in divine love. It encourages active attention to the Holy Spirit for wisdom in daily situations and a humble, receptive attitude toward this guidance, ultimately fostering trust in God’s protective care.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your goodness, mercy, and protective wisdom. You are a good Father who wants to cover us and keep us from harm. I ask that you give me an ear and heart to receive wisdom, and the strength to stop and heed wisdom rather than rushing into decisions. I trust in you to lead and direct my path. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
