Abandon it.

“So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, ‘Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.’But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt” Genesis 19:17-26, NKJV.

I like basketball, but I had to let it go. I’m not saying I won’t ever watch basketball again, but it won’t ever have the place in my life that it did. It won’t be that important to me anymore. I abandoned it.

You won’t ever do this with a person or your marriage, but as you go into a new year, some things you are going to have to abandon. Recognize anything that has a hold on you that shouldn’t. Pivot away from what you realize didn’t do you anything good this year, not helping you get further to where God is taking you. Like a car on the highway, you will have to stop the car of your life, let it out on the road, and drive off. Leave it there. Drive off and don’t look back.

Prayer: Father, I give you glory, and I thank you for all that you have done. You have even been showing me what I need to let go of. I am willing to fast or fast from it if I need to, but this isn’t going into this new year with me. Help me to stop and abandon it. By your grace, this is getting out of my life, and I’m not looking back. I’m receiving everything you have for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
