So Samuel said: ‘Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams'”, 1 Samuel 15:22, NKJV.

Saul thought what he did was okay, but the Lord wanted obedience. He weighed in his opinion versus the Lord and made what he thought equal with God’s. He also revealed the secret of his disobedience, and his rebellion was he feared what people would say more than pleasing God.

A serious truth about following Christ, but a loving one, is it’s not about just doing what’s right. It’s about obedience. It’s not only about knowing God but walking with Him–step by step, listening and doing what He says. Deep down, there may be different factors involved, the pressure of pleasing people, but be encouraged to tell the enemy that I will do what the Lord says. God will fulfill His will and destiny for my life because there is an aspect of God’s plan for my life that won’t come to pass without my obedience.

You’re in a serious, pivotal moment in your life right now. The Lord may be guiding you in a new direction for your life, do what the Lord says. Whatever you hear Him speak, He’s empowered you with His grace to do.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your truth in love. Help me not only to do right things, but be obedient. Jesus did, and through His strength, so can I. What You’re speaking to me about what You want to do in me and through my life, no matter what it is, help me to do what You say. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
