Your Time with God is Important

July 24, 2018

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4, NKJV.

I was talking to a brother and he made reference to all he was going through and the challenges he was facing. Then I asked him how was his prayer life and did he begin his day with spending any quality time with God. He said when he wakes up, he just goes to work and prays throughout the day.

It is important to begin your day with spending quality time with God in prayer and in His word. You can’t make it without it, and just praying on the way to work, or when you bless your food won’t do. With everything you are facing, only with God you to overcome them. With where He wants to take you, only He can get you there.

Naturally, it can seem like spending time with God is not the answer and to belittle the part that it plays in your life. This is your first battle. The devil will pursue to lie to you and fight against you to not invest into it. He will give you all kinds of reasons, including sleep, to not take the time to start your day with prayer, worship and studying God’s Word to spend time with Him. However, it is the one powerful key to every door, every answer, all grace, wisdom, every bit of strength you need. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22) and this is the fruit you will bear when you decide to sit at the feet of Jesus.

Your time with God will do volumes in your life. It has done a tremendous work in mine. When you are weak, He will make you strong. He’ll show you what to do.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your truth today. I humble myself. I can’t do anything good apart from You. I rebuke you Satan and I will rely on You. I will trust in the power of prayer, worship and Your word. I make a decision to spend quality time with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
