Train them in the way they should go.

December 11, 2019

“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6, NKJV.

“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up” Deuteronomy 6:7, NKJV.

I wake up this morning to pray, and my 3-year old son said I want to pray too. I brought him into our closet, and we sat down. I helped him put his hands together, and we began to pray. He said some of the same things I did, then he said he wanted to pray like daddy. I told him as long as you’re praying from the heart, you’re praying like daddy.” I’ll continue to pray with him in the morning because one day, when he needs the Lord, he’ll have to pray on his own.

A father’s most important ministry is his family. The Bible teaches us to take our children at every given opportunity to train them in the way they should go. In the least expected moments, God will provide you with opportunities to teach your children about Him. There are so many lessons and wisdom to pass along to them that the best way is to include them in the things that you already do.

Whether you are with your children washing the car or at the store. Whether you are reading God’s word, fixing something, or at the bank. The Lord will touch their hearts and yours to talk about life and the principles they need for successful living.

Prayer: Father, thank You for being a great Father to me. You teach me all the time. Even when you correct me, You train me up and teach me. Help me to be a good father like You and continue to see the needs of my children and train them up. I thank You in advance for mighty seed in the earth. Jesus’ name, Amen.

Study: Deuteronomy 6:1-9, Ephesians 6:4, 1 Timothy 3:5 & 5:8
