Think on Good Things

June 23, 2019

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8, KJV.

SSometimes our minds can be all over the place if we allow them to be, especially in the face of trials and challenges. We think about where we would be if we had more of something, what could have been, why did this happen, or what are we going to do now. This kind of thinking can cause you to be discouraged and full of worry, absent from living right now, absent from joy.

What you choose to think about is in your hands. Whatever is true, whatever is just or right, think on those things. Think on what is pure and holy before the Lord. Think on God’s report, what He has said the outcome will be. Think on what is worthy to give God praise for. You may say that looking for something good happening in your life right now is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but fight to find it. The Lord of all never leaves us without hope. There is always something to be thankful for.

Pursue to not think on what you see, but what God’s Word says it will be.

Prayer: Father, thank You for helping me to think on good things. Help me to learn to think on what is good, honest, true and praiseworthy to You. Help me catch myself when my mind begins to dwell on what’s wrong and what is not like You. I’m encouraged today. I choose to be a man that thinks on good things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
