Encourage yourself in the Lord

January 4, 2020

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” 1 Samuel 30:6, KJV.

As men, we have a lot of responsibility, and we pursue to handle it all. However, we can fall short. Things also can happen out of our control, and we can become faced with becoming heavy and greatly distressed. This is what happened to King David. At a hard moment in his life, David felt defeated and needed to be encouraged. Yet, he didn’t go to his friend. He didn’t go to the prophet. To receive what he needed, he went directly to the Lord.

Sometimes, no one else will be able to deeply encourage you. At that point, you must decide that you will not stay in a place of heaviness and encourage yourself in the Lord! No one can encourage you like the Lord. No one can lift your burdens like the Lord. No one can revive you like the Lord. No one can give you a second wind like the Lord. No one can show you the way out like the Lord!

He will strengthen the core of you. He will put might in your heart. His peace will keep you when your back is against the wall. His Word will remind you of Who He is and Who you are. In prayer, the Father will speak to You and assure you that everything is going to be alright.

Do as David did. Encourage yourself in the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, I thank You that I can encourage myself in You. There is no one like You. Encourage me, Lord. You are my fortress, my healer and my Provider. I don’t feel like it, but I praise You now. I receive strength in my heart and peace in my mind Father. Thank You, Father, for lifting my head, and like David, You will show me what to do. I have the victory! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
