Don’t Look Back

November 4, 2018

“But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt” Genesis 19:26, KJV.

When something isn’t good for you, either you must let it go, or it will consume you. This is what happened to Lot’s wife. After being made free, she wouldn’t let go of Sodom and Gomorrah. She looked back and she became a pillar of salt.

Like Lot’s wife, God doesn’t want our testimony to be that we physically left the city (the world), which is a great decision. However, we didn’t make it to the Lord’s destination for our lives either, because if we’re honest, on the inside we haven’t let it go and God knows. For only reasons we know within ourselves, we keep looking back on what’s holding us back.

Maybe you are saved and you go to church, but within you there’s a desire and love for this world, and that desire for the world system is keeping you from reaching your full potential in God. For some of us, this is a warning. It’s keeping you from completely obeying God and fulfilling your calling. God has great things in store for you, yet you must trust God, and release your grip on this world. Release your grip on the past and let it go. Go with everything you’ve got toward the place in life that the Lord is calling you to, and don’t look back.

Prayer: Father, I will worship You and You alone. You’re telling me to not look back and I hear Your voice. If there’s any desire and love in me for this world, I repent and I ask that You take it from me. Help me to not look back on what will consume me. I will look to You and completely pursue Your calling for my life and who You want me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
