Called to Be Yourself

May 2, 2020

“So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off” 1 Samuel 17:38-39, NKJV.

David came to realize that he couldn’t use the armor that Saul used for his own fight. It fit Saul, but it didn’t fit him. David said I need to use what God has given me. I can only be myself. He took his slingshot and those small stones, and slew Goliath.

You are called to be you. You can’t do someone else. You are not ordained to be someone else. You are ordained to be you. As long as you try to be another man, like David, it won’t fit you. It won’t work for you. Use your own God-given gifts and talents, your own personality, and your abilities, your own God-given way to make an impact for Jesus.

There are a lot of mighty men God is using in great ways. They aren’t better or more intelligent. They are just being themselves and doing it the way God told them to. Like David, be a man that is confident in how God made you. Be a man that will trust you have everything you need to do great things right where we are.

Prayer: Father, I give You praise. Help me to be myself. You didn’t call me to be another man. You called me to be me, and I will be confident in who You created me to be. I am a great man how You made me and the gifts You’ve given me. I thank You for winning and the joy of You using me! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
