When He says you’re not ready.

February 15, 2026

“But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” James 1:4, NKJV.

I have a son who is itching to get his driver’s license. My wife and I want him to have his driver’s license as much as he does. Yet, I’ve been driving for a long time. As I took him out to practice more, I noticed some small things that could actually end up causing an accident. Although I knew it would hurt, as a good father, I had to tell my son that he needs a little more time driving before he’s ready.

It’s sobering when God says I have what you’ve prayed for, but you’re not ready yet.

God has been God for a long time, and He has plans for you. God knows and hears your prayers. He knows what you desire. Yet, He will not give you what you’re not ready for. Like a good father, something given too early can harm your relationship with Him, harm yourself, others, and even the very blessing you prayed for.

Give Him praise for loving you enough to prepare you and not give it to you until you’re ready. Receive your wait as a blessing. Receive your wait as God covering you. Preparation time is never lost time. If you’re waiting on a wife, take it as the Lord not only making sure you receive His best, but also that your future wife receives the best in you. Trust your heavenly Father in the wait. He wants to bless you even more than you do.

Prayer: Father, I praise You. You know what I need when I need it. You know the things I desire in my life, and You know when I’m ready for it. Help me accept, and I trust Your timing, not my own. Give me patience and a heart of contentment. I will cooperate with You, Holy Spirit, as You continue to prepare me. Show me anything I need to. You want to bless me even more than myself. Thank You, Father, for making me ready. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
