The humility we don’t think about.

“But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you” James 4:6 & 12, ESV.

It not only takes faith to receive God’s word about you. It not only takes courage to receive God’s word about you. It takes humility.

I used to think being humble meant only telling God I am nothing and can’t do anything without You. Yet, examine yourself. Every time the Lord says you are called by Him to do great things for His glory or when the Lord leads you to do something, do you humble yourself to what He says about who you are in Him? This form of pride can also hinder us from receiving what God says and being the man we have been called to be.

As men, we are in an hour that we have to get beyond our “I can’t,” get beyond insecurities, every last one of them, and humble ourselves to who we now are in Christ. Be willing to accept God’s word and humble yourself to His will. Be willing to receive not only who you are without the Lord but who you are with Him.

Prayer: Father, I praise You! I never looked at humility this way. Deal with this form of pride in me. Just as I can humbly say I can’t do anything without You, I lift my hands and humbly say I can do all things with You! Help me to apply humility in every area of my life so that Your grace may abound and use me mightily in this hour. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
