“Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” James 4:2-3, KJV
Just like any good father, God will prosper you in every area when you ask, but if your motives are impure, He won’t. Yet, when you make a holy request for anything, I mean anything, of God with a pure heart, there is nothing He won’t do for you.
This is why God directs us to pray according to the most pure, most holy, most clean book there is–His word. His holy word will help your prayers and requests to be holy and blessed. Examine your motives. Purify your heart with the word of God, and He will answer you.
His word searches the heart and examines our motives (see Hebrews 4:12). When you ask in all purity and sincerity, you will see the hand of God move, and you will receive the greatest blessings in your life. You will experience His blessing, which has no sorrow with it.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for helping me to make my requests holy to You. Help me not to ask amiss. Help me to trust You more, pray according to Your word, and allow it to purify my heart. I thank You in advance for every pure request and for moving in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank you for the sentence “ Help me to not ask amiss.” It is so easy to ask amiss with out even realizing it. If we go into our prayers focusing on how we ask, our prayers will line up with God’s heart. Isn’t that what we all want?
