“There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?””
Genesis 39:9, NKJV.
“And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt” Genesis 41:45, NKJV.
I am a man just like you. I see many women each day. I am reminded to stay vigilant about bouncing your eyes and turning your head from the women that cross your path. Even an admirable look can turn into a lustful heart thought. You can then find yourself seeing, desiring, another woman’s face instead of your wife’s. Joseph was single and strong. He was strong in his love and conviction of sin against God. He wrongfully went to prison for it, but he ultimately was freed and stood in victory when God promoted him to second in command with his own wife.
You don’t have to give way to the strange woman. God can keep you as a single man. Stay humble. In your prayer time, pray specifically about this area in your life. You will need it in the days to come. Like Joseph, she’s cute, but you have a conviction. You can so no to the thought. You can say no to the look.
Prayer: Father, I give you all the glory, honor and praise. Whether in person or online, help me not to relax about it, but stay wisely vigilant about it. I take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ! I will only have eyes for my wife and she is the woman You gave me to satisfy me. I lean on you to keep me for Your glory and for my future wife. Give me the strength to do it for You and for her. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
