“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content” 1 Timothy 6:6-8, KJV.

You started this life without any of the things in this world, and you won’t be able to take any of them with you when it ends. This puts every-thing in perspective.

There is a principle here to keep before you in times that you are faced with having a desire for more. In those times when you see someone else with what you want. In those moments when you would like your car to be better. When you find your current income won’t allow you to do but so much. God says, be content.

He has made your heavenly bank account full–right now. You have been given the riches of salvation, mercy, grace, truth, authority, love, peace, and son-ship through Christ Jesus. You have an eternal reward far more valuable than the things you can’t take with you. Godliness with contentment is great gain.

He wants you to see each day that your ultimate satisfaction and happiness is found in living a life that pleases God. That is the greatest thing you can acquire. Having the Father say He is pleased with how you live before Him, how you appreciate what you do have, how you take care of your family with what do you have, should be your source of contentment.

Prayer: Father, thank You today. I will not be a man caught up in having to have certain things to be happy, when I am already blessed. I pray for those that don’t have food and clothing, and ask that You meet every need they have. Godliness with contentment is great gain, and I thank You for all that I have found in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
