“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matthew 6:20-22, NKJV.
Jesus says where your treasure is, that’s where your heart will be. Whatever you value, hold as precious and dear to your life, is the proof of what you care for and what you invest yourself in. Wherever your time, money, resources, and efforts to acquire things are, that’s where your heart is. It is the indicator of what you truly are after in this life.
No man can hide the heart from God. No man can disguise what they treasure from God, and there are things you may be valuing that, in the end, really won’t matter. Examine what your treasure is, and if it isn’t toward heaven, begin to put it there. You have one life to live my brother. Store up good works there. Store up the good treasure of a good heart and your reward there. What you store up there will last, won’t be stolen or eaten, and most of all, that’s where you will be.
Prayer: Father, this hit home. Help me to put my treasure in an eternal place, where it can’t be stolen or eaten. Turn my perspective, resources, and efforts toward doing good and the things that are above. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
