“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matthew 6:19-21, NKJV
I’ve been thinking about stocks lately and learning how to make solid, long-term investments. Yet, I am reminded of where the real treasure is.
There’s no greater investment you can make than what you store up in heaven. There’s no greater return than an eternal one. Money can be taken from you. Material things will fade away and won’t make the eternal trip you will one day have to take.
Outward circumstances will tell you to change your treasure, what your heart counts as great worth, and what you live for. Yet, don’t change your treasure. Jesus is your Treasure. Being sitted with Christ is your treasure. A right treasure means a right heart. Being rich in good works and advancing His kingdom is your treasure. To love God is your treasure, and be encouraged to keep storing them in heaven. One day, when your race is done, you’re going to see what you stored up, and you’re going to be so blessed eternally.
Prayer: Father, thank you. You know just what I need to keep the proper perspective on this life. I will not be deceived. Things aren’t the true treasure. You are. May I value in life what you value. May all my focus and how I live reflect where my treasure is and where my heart is. Help me always remember that what I do for you will never fade. It’s being stored up in heaven as blessings eternally waiting on me. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
