“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” 1 Samuel 30:6, KJV.
At a challenging moment in his life, David felt defeated and needed to be encouraged. Yet, he didn’t go to his friend. He didn’t go to the prophet. To receive what he needed, he went directly to the Lord.
Sometimes, no one else will be able to deeply encourage you, and what you do in the moment will be left up to you. At that point, you must decide not to breakdown but breakthrough. You must decide not to stay in a place of heaviness and encourage yourself in the Lord! No one can encourage you like the Lord. No one can lift your burdens and revive you like the Lord. No one can give you a second wind like the Lord. No one can show you the way out like the Lord.
He will put might in your heart and strengthen the core of you. His peace will keep you when your back is against the wall. His Word will remind you of Who He is and Who you are. In prayer, the Father will speak to You and assure you everything will be alright.
As David did, encourage yourself in the Lord today!
Prayer: Father, I thank you that I can encourage myself in you! There is no one like you. You are my fortress, my Healer, and my Provider. Regardless of how I feel, I will still praise you. I receive strength in my heart and peace in my mind, Father. Thank you, Father, for lifting my head, and like David, you will show me what to do. Like David, I have the victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
